CA Counties: Means of Transportation to Work by Poverty Status

The following map gives a breakdown of how people get to work, based on the ratio of their income to the poverty line.

This table divides the population into three classes:

  • income below the poverty line;
  • income at or 1.5 times the poverty line;
  • income more than 1.5 times the poverty line.

It breaks down commuting methods to a couple of groups:

  • Drive alone
  • Drive in carpool/vanpool/other
  • Public transit
  • Bike, motorcycle, taxi
  • Walk

Let's start with public transit.

Public Transit

Below Poverty Line: Commuting by Public Transit

"Below Poverty Line" defined as income level of < 100% of poverty line/poverty threshold.

At Poverty Line: Commuting by Public Transit

"At Poverty Line" defined as income level of 100-150% of poverty line/poverty threshold.

Above Poverty Line: Commuting by Public Transit

"Above Poverty Line" defined as income level of > 150% of poverty line/poverty threshold.
